Discover the Cape of Good Hope's history through its dairy farms, cheeseries, wine cellars and vineyards!
I tour in English, French and Italian. So much to see, so little time! We have thus designed these adventures and experiences around a multiplicity of options, stipulating their own time limits. You can thus construct the tour that will best suit your aspirations today.

Journey through the breathtaking Cape Fold Mountains and explore its micro-terroirs. Experience pristine nature while pairing traditional, health-promoting and hand-crafted cheeses with bountiful wines. Introduced in the Cape by 17th Century seafarers, cheese & wine were later developed by a handful of French Protestant refugees (of Huguenot origin), Dutch East India Company (VOC) servicemen, German soldiers and a motley of adventurers. Reminisce the 8000 years of global Cheese & Wine history with your own self-styled affineur, sommelier host and self-confessed cheese & wine addict, Didier. All the while travel over three centuries of rich heritage, and delect in Africa's finest cheeses & wines, looking into industry trends & future potentials. Didier attempts to express the diversity of this new-world society in the context of a fast expanding economy still confined in the hinges of history. We face head on a human geography in transformation and ever conflicting first/third world socio-economic dynamics. This Tour de Force whisks us into an out-of-the-ordinary culinary adventure with palatal rapture and a hellofalotof fun.

Visit the Cheese & Winelands of the Fairest Cape. Meet the cheese makers at her/his small farms, cheesery; the winemaker in the cellar & on the vineyard, when available. This is off-the-beaten-track edu-tainment at its best. The geography, geology, hydrology, climate, wind and history of soil make up for a multitude of specificities, where same vine varietals yield radically different wines. Engage an old greater European tradition challenged with South African innovation and 'savoir-faire'. Fun or not ?!

Tours span many distinct areas within the ONLY 'Mediterranean' region on the sub-saharan continent. Succulent, award-winning cheeses & unique wines are discovered, their techniques explored and a Cheese & Wine Pairing Presentation Luncheon is offered at the vineyard. Our motto for service excellence is: 'come naked, return full'.

A base itinerary is proposed for each tour, a great thing - in fact - because it often includes LUNCH and a host of other 'pertinent' activities. Additional fantastic options are listed and costed for your perusal. There is no obligation to elect any option as the tour is 'de force' exquisite... When you click a tour link above, you will be able to receive a quotation instantly, including any choice of options. Make use of this feature to elaborate your day! In summer DO NOT FORGET to take sunscreen & a hat (the UV index is one of the highest in the world!); in winter, take warm clothes & waterproofs...

Tours & Events are 'unscheduled' and are thus designed as exceptional. We tour every day, except some Saturdays and Sundays when we are busy selling terroir cheese & wines at local fresh produce markets. I hope to here from you personnally. Didier. [mob: +27(0)73 613 2561]
